Make a difference...

“Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile, and a grateful heart.” (Zig Ziglar) (11.6.26 > 11.28.12)

It never ceases to amaze me how much difference another person can make in our lives. We can go through a horrible day full of frustration and annoyances...and then one person says something encouraging that changes our entire perspective. Suddenly we feel like we wen
t from beaten down to blessed abundantly.

Of course, we can enjoy a wonderful day with our spirits high, our activities flowing and a song in our hearts...and then someone criticizes us...and our day changes drastically.

I think it is safe to say that most of us truly want to make a difference for others. I know I have been incredibly blessed by those who saw potential, promise and positive qualities in me as a child, teen, young wife and mother. And their words, attitude, integrity and kindness made a huge difference in my life then...and now! They were and are, undoubtedly, God's precious instruments who influenced my life in ways I may never have gone had they not cared and taken the time to touch my heart for Him.

Yesterday, we learned of the passing of Zig Zigler. I never heard him speak. I never met him. But I have heard of him. My husband attended one of his live speaking engagements. I do know this. Mr. Zigler was motivational, encouraging and driven to make a difference in people's lives. He will certainly be long remembered for the difference he made for countless others.

What can I do to make a difference? No, I am not a Zig Zigler. But just as his quote said, if we share a word, smile and grateful heart with others, it will influence them...as well as our own lives! What a wonderful truth and challenge! Thanks, Mr. Zigler! Rest in peace. ♥~thl
