As I embrace the memory of singing with Concert Choir and Concert Choir/Destiny alumni last spring, I recall the wonderful voices surrounding me and how each one...soprano, alto, tenor, bass...brought beautiful harmony to the group.
Today I simply wonder...how do our voices contribute to this world daily? Do we contribute in harmony or in discord? Do we live without hearing the voices of others? Richard Hargrove, my KCU music professor, used to tell us that if we could hear only our own voice but not the voices of others...we were singing too loudly. We need to strive to hear a balance of others and our own. How true!
God gave each of us a voice to use for Him...and to reach out to others...for Him. Each one has value, purpose and a gift to share. Are we using our voices...our lives....our time on this planet to listen to others...to work together...to praise Him? Or are we simply listening to our own agenda, making our own music, ignoring others? I pray we listen to others as we share our voices and lives for Him...continually.♥~thl (written May, 2012)
